Joint Body Members
training program:
KWDF Ltd. joint body members are regularly trained in
order to build their project planning and monitoring
skills. Training on leadership and team building help
them to interact with the work force and assist them to
take the right decisions.

JB Elections
The election is carried out after every two year for the
KWDF. Elections were conducted in a free and fair manner
in both farms. Workers enthusiastically participated in
these elections by casting their votes.

Community Development Projects |
|
Medical Equipment assistance for public Dispensaries.
KWDFL
has invested in improving the medical facility of
the Chekereni Dispensary and Moivaro Dispensary near
Nduruma farm to benefit many workers and village
community staying in Chekereni. In Loliondo, the
facilities were issued to Usa River Health centre.

Water
projects
The
purpose of the project is to maintain suitable water
supply for domestic use thereby reducing the hardship of
collecting and storing water for home use.

Mosquito Net Distribution
Malaria is a serious and often fatal illness very common
in this region. Workers and their families often fall
ill due to malaria. Mosquito nets were distributed to
all the employees of Kiliflora to mitigate the problem
of malaria.

About
9,000 mosquito nets were distributed to the workers at a
ratio of 2 nets per family of each worker. |

Classrooms
assistances to public schools
To
help improve the condition of the local schools by
reducing the overcrowding of students in classrooms,13
classrooms have been constructed in nearby primary and
secondary school.

Construction
of Hostel (Community school)
KWDFL through the use of premium money has donated the
construction of two modern hostels which accommodates
104 female students for the community school and
officially inaugurated by the President of United
Republic of Tanzania, His Excellence Jakaya Mrisho
Kikwete on 16th March, 07

a)
Computer Trainings
Aim:
To
improve computer awareness and skills for the workers.
The training has enabled the workers to execute their
job responsibilities and do functions like report easily. This
training also gives them better job prospects.

b)
English language course
Aim:
Due to increasing importance of English,English training classes were introduced

Tailoring course
Aim: The aim of the project was to impart tailoring
skills to men and women interested in tailoring and to
promote self sufficiency.

Accounting Training
Aim:
To
improve accounting skills among workers and create
employment opportunities for members of nearby village

Tengeru Male and children Ward Project
Aim: Improvement
of medical facilities for the community of Arumeru

Housing Development Project/ Distribution of
iron sheet or Cement
Aim:
This project was selected and implemented 2006/2007 and
2008 to assist all workers to build new roof or
repairing their houses. All workers were given iron sheets or bags of cement.
Aim:
HIV/AIDS project was started to create awareness
on HIV/AIDS to workers community. The project aims to train 40 peer educators to train
the staff and community. This training will help them to
assess their own risk and take decisions to protect
themselves from getting or transmitting this disease.

Deaf people participate in HIV/AIDS Training financed by
KWDFL/Kiliflora Fairtrade.
More than 1,200 employees plus community members have
been trained in all the training programmes.
Kiliflora workers and community members who were trained

This project is exclusively for the community members
living in Chekereni area.

This project aimed at creating an inevitable environment
for community members to meet and discuss issues related
to their social economic activities.

Workers Children
These projects aimed
at assisting school fees to workers whose children are
selected to join government & private secondary schools.
Until now, more than 200 workers’ children have been
sponsored.

Conclusion:
KWDF Ltd. in association with the Max Havelaar
foundation plus FLO are helping to improve the
conditions of the workers and their community.
Workers’ skills and confidence have improved by being
involved in member meetings and decision making
processes. Employees of Kiliflora have now become proud
participants in the Fair trade
projects that have brought progress in the social,
economical and environmental conditions of the nearby
communities.
